Radish Fry

Description

Crunchy red radish fry in minutes to go with rice.
Ingredients
6 nos Red radish (cut thin round slices)
1 no Onion (cut lengthwise)
2 clove Garlic (crushed)
2 pinch Turmeric powder
1 tsp Crushed red peppers
¼ tsp Mustard
¼ tsp Cumin seeds
¼ tsp Split black gram
5 nos Curry leaves
4 pinch Salt (or to taste)
3 tsp Oil

Instructions

Wash and chop the both ends of the radish, cut them into thin round slices. Heat oil in a shallow frying pan, splutter mustard, cumin seeds, split black gram and curry leaves. Fry onion and garlic until tender, then add the radish pieces along with salt, turmeric and crushed red peppers. Close the pan with lid and let cook on low flame for 4 to 5 minutes until the radish turns just tender. Serve as a side for sambar or rasam saatham(rice).

Notes

Crushed red peppers can be substituted with 1/2 tsp red chilli powder.

    hi Mullai… thank u so much for this recipe. I have tried to make this radish poriyal with some masala powders, but it dominates the radish. But yours seems perfect & today Im following your procedure. Sure it will be a hit. Thanks a lot again.

    hi mullai….i got daikon radish from the farmer’s market today…..can i try this recipe with that? or is there any other recipe for that in ur website….do guide me pls…

      Ramthy, these are very pungent when compared to red radishes. If that's ok with you… then proceed with the recipe. Normally would use these for sambar but its ok to make fry too.
