Poori with potato masala- who wouldn’t say no to this combo, kids luv to carry this for school lunch and Sid is no exception, anything deep fried will a bring a smile on his face. Instead of sending poori and masala separately this waslot easier for him to have at lunch time. Kids usually use the masala as dip, they hate to scoop and all the veggies head back home in the My friend Gayathri Sam shared this idea of sending pooris with stuffing inside and it worked out perfect for Sid, all he has to do is just gobble one at a time. Making poori in the morning is not an easy task, try making the masala the previous day and make use of your food processor to make the dough.

This is what I packed for Sid today – Few Potato stuffed Pooris for lunch , Pineapple chunks for snacking & Choco cookies as treat.
Make the poori masala the previous day which could save some time int he morning. Usually for regular pooris we have a chunky style potato masala on the side but for these stuffed pooris it has to very thick, slightly on the dry side. Just like how we make the stuffing for the samosas. Check Potato stuffing recipe here

Once you make the dough for poori, roll it out into a big chapati. Using a small cup cut them into little pooris. Stuff with a teaspoon of masala, cover with another poori and stick them together using little water on the edges. You may fold the edge as shown and deep fry. After deep frying do not pack them hot, the steam will make them soggy. Let them cool a bit and then pack them in the lunch box.

Packed in a regular stainless steel tiffin box.
I’ve made small sized pooris to fit for my little one’s hand.
Folding the edges helps to keep the stuffing intact inside the pooris.
Use your imagination, sneak in few extra minced veggies in the stuffing!
