If you haven’t tried a product called “Nutella”, you need to go out and get some today. It’s s a little … rather say quite addictive. This creamy spread is made up of hazelnuts, cocoa, and skim milk which goes well on a toast usually but many times a spoonful goes straight from the jar to my mouth. There…
Quinoa pronounced as Keen-wa /Kin-wa is grain like seed which is packed with nutrition. I’ve been trying to incorporate this in our Indian cooking and found Idlis are the best way to introduce this new grain. Its quite mild when made this way and doesn’t interfere much with the taste. You can gradually adjust the proportion to 1:1 once you…
Here’s something hearty and healthy for these cold wintry days. Usually or mostly Black eyed peas makes us think of a sundal recipe or quick salad recipe. But they pair well with gravies too. They are real friendly with most common veggies like brinjal, bottlegourd and drumstick. Moreover you don’t have to break your head about pre-soaking overnight, these are softer dried peas and require just about 10 minutes of soaking time. Here’s a light version of kara kuzhambu recipe made with black eyed peas and drumstick which when accompanied by plain rice and appalam will complete a full course meal.

A huge pack of Idli rava was sleeping in my pantry.., guess it might be the same with many of you too. I couldn't think of anything productive other than turning them to Hotel Idlis. Well, home made idlis with regular idli rice are whiter, spongy and soft. Whereas these Rava idlis…when steamed turn out to be slightly yellowish, soft but bulgy. They turn out to be like the ones which we get in restaurants. Mostly these are kind of staple in many telugu households but to us or atleast me they remind me of hotel idlis.
Red Snapper is called Sankara Meen in Tamil. Check here for a picture. This is like any other fish fry recipe, only thing is I made my own masala powder with little dry coriander crust.

Laccha Paratha is a kind of layered flat bread made with Whole wheat flour (Atta). The term "laccha" means spiral or rings in Punjabi, the atta dough is stretched, rolled in the form of rings, stuffed with fat and shallow fried, resulting in mutlilayered flaky bread. This is closely related to our South Indian Parotta except the fact that it is purely made with whole wheat. While Plain Laccha paratha / paranthas are just stuffed with ghee/butter/vegetable fat/vanaspathi , the spiced up versions takes many turns.
