Masala Vadai is a popular deep fried snack from Tamil Nadu also known as Paruppu vadai. This is either made with single lentil or combination of lentils. We at home, make it purely with Bengal gram and call it as Masala Vadai and the one made with multiple lentils are termed as Aama Vadai. Crispy deep fried lentil fritters, a popular street side savoury snack in Tamil Nadu. Colloquial term used for this type is Gharam Pakoda. (Onion Pakora / Onion Pakodi / Onion Pakoda / Ulli Pakodi / Pakora / Pattanam Pakoda / Sweet Stall Pakoda)

Punukulu are little crispy fritters from Andhra region, often had as a tea time snack or even as a breakfast item in some parts.
