Unlike the normal sambhar, this one tastes different and is loaded with iron and proteins….
|1 cup||Toor dal|
|1 cup||Methi leaves|
|½ cup||Onion (sliced lengthwise)|
|½ cup||Tamarind extract|
|1 tsp||Red chilli powder|
|2||Green chillies (slit open)|
|Salt to taste|
In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add jeera, mustard and let it splutter. Add garlic and toast till it turns brown. Add onions, green chillies and saute. Add chopped methi leaves and saute till it wilts. Add rest of the ingredients and 1 cup water.
Cook for 3-4 whistles ot till dal is cooked completely. Open after steam releases and mash with matthu. Simmer for 3-4 minutes and serve hot with rice or rotis.
