Killi potta Sambar is one of my grandma's special..this sambar is very easy to do..no need of sambar powder..This sambar is one of the easiest recipe for the beginners..goes well with spicy potatoes masiyal..give a try friends..
|¾ cup||Toor dal|
|2 nos||Onion (chopped lengthwise)|
|2 nos||Tomatoes (chopped )|
|2 nos||Green chillies|
|6 nos||Garlic pods|
|¼ tsp||Mustard seeds|
|¼ tsp||Urad dal|
|3 nos||Red chillies|
|¼ tsp||Cumin seeds|
|¼ tsp||Asafoetida powder|
|1 tsp||Lemon juice|
|Cilantro leaves for granishing|
Wash toor dal thoroughly n pressure cook until three whistles with turmeric powder..heat oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies, cumin seeds n asafoetida powder n let them splutters…now add the finely chopped lengthwise onion pieces n fry them well until they turns transculent, add the tomatoes pieces n fry them until they turns mushy n also add the green chillies n smashed garlic pods n fry them for a while…adjust toor dal with enough water as per need, this sambar should be watery..add water as per need..now add the toor dal with salt n bring them to boil, put the flame in simmer n let them cook until the veggies get cooked..put off the stove n add lemon juice to the sambar, add chopped cilantro leaves for garnishing to the sambar..
Serve hot with rice..Easy to prepare, can serve this sambar with any choice of spicy side dish..
