Which oil is the best for cooking? This question pops in my mind now and then....I use extra virgin Olive oil for cooking andd when it comes to deep frying i use Sunflower oil coz i found deep frying in olive oil makes the oil turn black very soon and also its very smoky.Heard that changing cooking oil is recommended.Recently heard that Canola oil is too good.Soy bean oil is available here, but one of my friends tried it and she said the smell is very bad.

Types of Olive oil Extra

Types of Olive oil

Extra virgin - considered the best, least processed, comprising the oil from the first pressing of the olives.

Virgin - from the second pressing.

Pure - undergoes some processing, such as filtering and refining.

Extra light - undergoes considerable processing and only retains a very mild olive flavour.

Actually talking from a health perspective, canola oil has less saturated fat(bad fat)than Olive oil.

Canola and Olive oil are my

Canola and Olive oil are my best picks. I use extra light olive oil for simple saute and sti-fry, thalippu / talimpu / tadka and few shallow fry items too. Here is a link that you can check.

Only extra virgin olive oil is bit stinky as they stays fresh only for few months. Better not buy in bulk as they are good only with salads. As far as Indian cookings concerned, try light olive oil which you would never feel anything wierd.Peanut oil is good for deep frying. Sesame and coconut oil are good for occassional use and also suit only a few type of recipes. Hope this helps.

I have been researching

I have been researching about the healthy oils to use for cooking for long time. Basically you want to stay away from saturated fat since it tends to increase blood cholesterol levels. Most saturated fats tend to be solid at room temperature.
Keeping that in mind following is the order of healthiest oils.
1. Canola oil/Olive oil
2. Sesame oil
3. Peanut oil
4. Sunflower oil
5. Corn oil
6. Safflower oil
7. Coconut oil

I prefer canola oil for cooking since I don’t like the taste of olive oil when cooked. For salads and dressings you can use extra virgin olive oil.
Coconut oil is high in saturated fat(86%)which increases blood cholesterol level, heart disease etc.

coconut oil has high

coconut oil has high cholesterol..for people who live outside india, lifestyle is different with very less physical exercise, definitely when compared to our grannys. On my research about oils, canola is good for frying and extra virgin cold pressed olive oil is good for tempering, stir frying etc.. olive oil has high boiling point and so it is not suited for deep frying.

Olive oil is very good for
