Mullai, nice home made side dish for idlis and dosas.. I go through ur website daily, and the recipes are so tempting.. Keep up the good work. Is it ok to use a small piece of roated tamarind instead of the lemon salt for the sour taste? What is ur suggestion?

Aarthick, tamarind could be a good substitute, mostly Andhra style podis include those, this lemon salt idea was primarily used to match the store bought podi. You can just try without adding any sour element and it will still taste good. Thanks.

good one mullai. on the side note , are u getting idhayam gingelley oil there in michigan? none of southern calif. shops have the oil.

Eathealthy, actually its peanut oil, we do get Idhayam nallennai here but in huge cans, they stopped selling those cute little bottles. I use mild olive oil for saute and peanut oil for deep frying items. thanks.

Sworna, those are from Indian store, Patel Bros chain… most stores should have them or else check by the name Lemon salt or lemon concentrate in regular super markets.
