There is a trick to open the metal caps of jam bottles(kissan jam) pickle bottles.Just show the sides of the cap in gas flame for some seconds.With the help of a cloth immediately try opening.It will open with ease.

Hi,

I follow a small trick to open the jam bottle or pickle bottle or baby's gerber food bottle .The trick is to open the vaccum seal.So we need to let the air pass to open the lid.Turn the bottle upside down,try to put/pierce/grip the screw driver/knife/breadknife or sharp spoon into the edges of the lid (area between the edge of lid and the bottle mouth),move the spoon/screw driver or knife ahead(just like holding car gear/lever and changing the car gear).The air releases.Now turn the bottle and the lid opens easily.

I opened a jam bottle for the first time in my life using your suggestion.

Have tried everything else....dunking in hot water, piercing with pin etc etc.... The only thing that worked was a stronger person.

Dont know why they still continue to make jars that are almost impossible to open. Urgent design changes needed..... (Jam jar makers, i hope you're listening)

Yes manoo. I too used to do like that before, but, if the hole becomes little big, the things stored in that bottle gets spoiled fast. Moreover I always find it difficult to put a hole in a metal cap with a small pin.
