I have tried with jasmine rice to make idlis but it doesnt turn out, since the rice is sticky. dosas are oke, but even not the best.

Jasmine, I have tried batter with jasmine rice. This actually suits only for dosai, as idlis made from this batter turns little rubbery. I used my regular idli dosa proportion and was not totally satisfied. Perhaps have to try something else added to make it soft. Hope members who had success might share a tip.
