Festive effects… trying kolam ❇️from @learnkolam a forgotten hobby, given life! Gone are the days when leisure strikes in… we sit with a diary & pencil to sketch dreaded pulli kolams, free hand designs rangolis… 🙄 Kolams, i would say, is a confluence of our art, tradition, mathematics and hidden humanity. Its not just a mere decoration… these tradition is believed to bring in prosperity to your ?home… talents, brought out in the form of art… scope, for widening your mathematical skills with the intricate geometrical designs… and finally humane intentions, the rice powder feeds hungry birds and ants shows & shares harmony!
During ?my high school & college days vacations…evenings well spent with ?AIR singing Malai thenral?… surrounded by kumudam, aandha vikatan… reading every line of it…chatting with friends, aunts, neighbors & muching on norukku theeni… trying free hand kolams from those magazine…, breaking the head to solve the matrix set by the dots…fill in the blanks to crossword puzzles. That was some life… 😥 waking up early morning during margazhi season… mist filled dim dusk, with pre-dawn temple service staring suprabhathams reverberating from distance….you start with one dot at a time and finally confident enough to compete with your neighbors to grab the best of street kolam “crown” 🙂 ….ippo hardly find time for anything but enough time to knondufy mobiles ? I been watching this page called learnkolam which is very inspiring… makes me to try a few… my sincere respect to someone’s mom or mil on the video, taking their time to teach others such beautiful traditions. Big hats off to them for keeping the traditions alive! I am not very artistic.. nor my geometry skills? I have tried a few easy pulli kolams from their page… ofcourse on a paper. This time wanted to try free hand kolams for this navarathri… OK… laugh all you want! its a bit shapeless…I know a kid can do much better than this but atleast i tried and promise to improve my skills!
Arisi maavu was on my mind but you see… it’s ?fall season here and all our sub division ?️?️?️squirrels are busy jumping jacks gymnastics along the verandah to collect every bit of those acorns that fall off the trees, like there’s no tomorrow?. Who knows? may even perform bharathanatyam ?on this rangoli.. so safely choose color chalk pieces to draw this kolam (hope i made some justice) with neighbors walking by mysteriously looking what the heck is she scribbling on the floor.. and me ?

U girls will never change and you say u can’t do anything about it …I have been following your site since 2006 but I am extremely disappointed by your words …..it is people like you who flee away have made a vaccum here and the beauty here is diminishing. Sorry but that hurts really bad.

Nice to know your all ur praises about India ….but those days are so over ….even if u go in a elevator u feel terrified by dumb people trying to take away your happiness by looking at u weirdly please don’t praise anything here after coming in holidays when u live here u will understand even bending down to put kolam will attract hungry pests.
