Hi abi, I would like to share my Mom's recipe which might be the Karaikudi style or different. Here you go; Pressure cook KK and mash it. Season mustard seeds, bengal& black grams, cumin seeds, green chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida and ginger. Add some amount of cooked toor dhal, mashed KK, turmeric powder and salt. Give it a nice boil. Add lemon juice after it gets cool. Variations: Toor dhal is optional, but really tastes better with it. If you want to add tamarind leave lemon juice and asafoetida. After seasoning add some onions, boil the extracted tamarind juice and finally add the mashed KK and cooked toor dhal. Give it a boil. » reply
