 After a long search, signed up for Bright house road runner @home Internet phone service for $10 a month. They serve California, Michigan, Florida and Indiana. Right now there's a promotion going on and if you happen to subscribe their other services, just call to verify. » reply

 we are using Time Warner Cable since the last year.They offer High speed internet,cable and digital phone service for 30$.now they are also offering International one price calling plan for $20/month.we get 3000 mins of calling time to over 100 countries around the world, including India, which is like 50 hrs of talk time every month.quality is very good.its almost like making local calls to India.check out with your local provider for similar service. » reply

Hey friends We are in the US. We are using MAGIC JACK . Its economical. really cost effective. visit magicjack.com for more dtls. we need to pay $40 per year. and we need to buy a chord (online) that costs around $40. its a one time investment. the phone has to be always connected with the computer, the computer should be on, with active internet, only then we can use the phone. we have bought this, and sent it to our family in India,and we are using.its cool. we can also use it here,or send it to india, and talk for unlimited hours for free.(these days in india also broad band connection is pretty good) unlike Vonage, etc., we don't need to pay monthly bills for this phone.its an advantage
