Hi all here is what i tried with green gram and this dish tastes yummy!! You can have this with white rice, roti,parotta and even dosai.Hope u will enjoy this recipe.
|1 cup||Green gram[soaked overnight]|
|½||Medium sized onion[chopped finely]|
|1||Medium sized tomato[optional]|
|1||Green chilly slit open|
|1 T||Ginger garlic paste|
|Few cumin seeds, 1 big cardamom,1 cinnamon ,2 cloves|
|Few curry leaves and corriander leaves for garnishing|
|Oil and salt as per need|
|1 tsp||Garam masala powder|
|1 T||Chilly powder (as per individual’s preference)|
|1 tsp||Cumin seed powder|
|½ cup||Coconut milk|
1.Wash and soak green gram overnight.
2.Take a pressure cooker, add oil and ghee[optional] then add cumin, cloves,cinamon,big cardamom and when cumin splutters add onion , curry leaves and saute well.
3.Once when onion turns translucent add green chilly and ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell disappears.
4.Now add the tomatoes and saute well [optional]
5.Add garam masala powder, cumin seed powder salt and chilly powder and mix well.
6.Now add the green gram and mix once again and pressure cook the dal till it is overboiled.You can add some water and pressure cook the content.
7.Once cooked well mash it completely and add coconut milk and just boil the content for 5 minutes in sim.
Garnish with corriander leaves and serve hot with white rice / roti or parotta.
