Soak dry king fish pieces in hot water for 1 hr else soak them for 2 r 3 hrs (its depends upon the type of the fish)..this will soften the fish pieces n wash out the salt from the fish..then wash out thoroughly for 3 r 4 times with water,shred the fish pieces with ur fingers.
Heat oil in the pan n add chopped onions, stir them well, once they r transparent add fennel seed powder n garlic (smashed or chopped into small pieces).Stir everything for 5 minutes, add the shredded fish pieces with them n stir it..now add the chilli powder n salt if needed.
Add half cup of water, n cook them for 10 minutes, now add vinegar to the fish pieces n cook them until the oil gets separates from the thick gravy, add the curry leaves n put off the stove.
Dry fish thokku is ready to eat..can also add tomatoes pieces in this recipe..
