Hi all here is a recipe of Dolichos bean Mutton Gravy. Avaraikkai is called Dolichos bean, butter bean, bonavist bean. Botanical Name: Dolichos lablab.My mom used to make this gravy, thought i will also make this and ended up making this today.Hope u all will enjoy this recipe.
|1||Big onion [finely chopped]|
|2||Tomatoes[medium sized chopped]|
|2 T||Ginger garlic paste|
|1 T||Cumin seed powder|
|1 tsp||Garam masala powder|
|1 T||Chilly powder (as per individual’s preference)|
|Salt as per need|
|Oil as required|
|Handfull of dolichos seed|
|1||Potato[medium sized washed and chopped]|
|Corrainder leaves (chopped for garnishing)|
|Whole spices[ few fennel seeds,big cardamom, 2 cloves,1 inch cinnamon stick, 1 bay leaf]|
|1 T||Corriander powder|
1. Wash the mutton and pressure cook mutton with a pinch of turmeric powder, salt, one table spoon of ginger garlic paste,curd and chilly powder.
2. Take a pan add oil, whole spices and onion and saute well.
3.Now add the Dolichos bean, bean seeds, potato and saute well.
4.Add ginger garlic paste[1tbsp] and saute well
5.Now add green chilly[optional] and tomatoes and saute well.
6.Add cooked mutton , and the rest of the water used for cooking mutton ,garam masala powder, chilly powder[adjust as per preference], corriander powder, cumin seed powder and salt and mix well.
7.Allow the content to boil well, once when oil seperates from the gravy, garnish with corriander leaves and serve hot with white rice, pulav,dosa or idly.
