Description
A different kind of cabbage fry for people who needs non-veg smell in vegetables as well. We add maldives fish for most vegetable fries. This is my uncle’s special.

| 2 T | Gingelly oil or ghee to fry |
| Mustard seeds | |
| Cumin seeds | |
| 1 no | Medium size onion (finely chopped) |
| 3 nos | Green chilli (slit open) (optional) |
| 3 nos | Dry red chilli (cut into 1inch pieces) |
| 6 nos | Curry leaves |
| 1 pinch | Turmeric powder |
| 1 pinch | Chilli powder |
| ¼ tsp | Black pepper powder (optional) |

| 1 no | Cabbage (shredded) |
| 2 T | Grated coconut |
| Salt for taste | |
| 1 pinch | Cumin seed powder |
Instructions
Dry roast the dried shrimps till the smell goes away and grind it into powder. Keep it aside.
Heat oil & slightly toast mustard, and cumin seeds. Fry chopped onion till the raw smell goes away. Then saute green chillies, dry red chillies, & curry leaves.
Add shrimp powder and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add cabbage & fry in high flame for a min. Add coconut and fry till it cooks well in high flame.
Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder & salt and sauté for a min in low flame.
Then add cumin seed powder, close the pan with a lid and cook for 2 – 3 mins in high flame. Take it off from the fire.
Notes
You can use maldive fish or dried nathali instead of shrimp.










Anchovies / Nathili is a tiny salt water fish. Its available in dry form (Karuvadu) in all chinese grocery stores. As far as I know Indian stores in US don’t sell this product. Canned Anchovies are available in most supermarket chains.

You can get them at Indian stores I suppose. Sry I am in M'sia we get it in Gaint, Jusco or Indian grocery shops.
