This is a tasty side dish which can be had with any dal items like sambaar.Hope u will like this.
|Avaraikkai[200 gms chopped]|
|1||Onion [small size finely chopped]|
|1 tsp||Mustard seeds|
|½ T||Channa dal|
|1 T||Chilly powder[as per individuals preference]|
|Salt and oil as per need|
|Water as required|
|3 T||Grated coconut|
|Few curry leaves|
|3 clove||Garlic (crushed)|
1.Take a pan, add oil , mustard seeds, channa dal, and hing once when mustard splutters add curry leaves and Crushed garlic,chopped onion and saute well.
2. Add chopped Avaraikkai now and saute well.
3. Add salt, chilly powder and coconut grating and a pinch of sugar and mix well
4.Add little water and cover the pan.Leave it on stove in sim for a few minutes so that the content will cook well.Once when cooked,leave it on stove for another 2 minutes.
Avaraikkai Poriyal is ready to be served.
Chilly powder can be substituted by dry red chillies.
I have used store bought dry garted coconut That is why i have added the coconut before the vegetable is cooked so that the coconut will turn out soft by the time the vegetable cooks completely. U can use fresh grated coconut if u have, do add fresh coconut at the end.
